Your daily oral hygiene
Taking care of all the elements that make up the oral cavity is very important. Neglecting (a deficient oral hygiene) any part of this set may result in diseases like caries and periodontitis and, with the time, might even cause the loss of teeth. This is why it is essential to implement a strict control of the oral hygiene from the birth of the first tooth is essential. This habit should be kept during the whole life.
So that brushing your teeth is a truly effective habit it must be a daily routine performed when you wake up in the morning, after every meal and then again right before going to bed. Regularity is a determining factor as dental biofilm is building up constantly and only by removing it you can avoid its harmful effects. It is also crucial to have a correct technique. If the brushing is not done adequately, it does not accomplish its purpose and, even worse, it can be harmful and hurt your teeth and irritate your gums.
You can always ask your dentist for help.

Thus, it is advisable to start using a tooth gel, specific for children and a soft bristles toothbrush. Parents must show good brushing habits and make children aware of the importance of the daily oral hygiene.
- In their teens During this time the oral hygiene habits have already been adopted and it is a must to brush the teeth at least three times a day. The paste and brush must be changed to the adult format ones. And, do not forget the interproximal cleaning , for a complete oral hygiene.
- Adults Good oral hygiene habits should be kept all through the life, together with periodic visits to the dentist. This should even increase with age. As one grows older, the production and secretion of saliva decreases. So, the saliva function of stabilizing the pH of the mouth (acidity level) might be affected. This can be solved by using tooth paste specific for Dry Mouth and a whole range of products that can stop the passing of time in your mouth.
