Mouth: parts of the mouth
Your mouth is the beginning of your digestive system, where teeth crush the food in order to be digested.
The mouth cavity is limited ahead and towards the sides by the dental arch, up by the palate and down by the floor of the mouth. In the back, it communicates with the pharynx.
The rear side of the palate has an extension that measures from 10 to 15mm of length, the uvula.
The palatine tonsil, of mamelonated form, protects the organism against infections.
In the floor of the mouth we can see the lingual frenum that is a mucous fold that links the back of the tongue with the mucous of the floor of the mouth.
The tongue occupies the mid part of the floor of the mouth.
